It is time for another time expression. This time expression is one you can very easily use as there is little to nothing to it. The time expression is the verb ending -자마자. We’ll get right to it, shall we?
The Korean grammar expression -자마자 is a very easy to use expression. You use it to indicate something occurs immediately after another event or action. If you were to translate this expression to English, you would end up with “as soon as” or “right after”. There isn’t a lot more to -자마자 than this.
Example: 화장실을 사용하자마자 손을 씻으세요.
Translation: Please wash your hands right after using the bathroom.
Please do note that the Korean order is the inverse of the English order. So that might cause some initial confusion.
How To Use
Conjugation with the Korean grammar pattern is as easy to understand its meaning. There is absolutely nothing to worry about. You just take the verb stem and then you simply attach -자마자. That’s it. No looking at batchim or anything. However, do keep in mind that you cannot use this pattern with adjective. You can only use it with verbs.
Furthermore there are two little factoids you ought to know. The subject of the first clause and the second clause needn’t be the same. You can use different subjects in each clause. Furthermore you do not express the tense in the first clause. You express that int he second clause.
Beyond that there is nothing left to say about this pattern, really. Korean can be that easy.
