Today marks the start of Seollal (KR: 설날), the Korean New Year. As you might know, the traditional Korean calendar is a lunar calendar and thus Koreans celebrate a lunar new year. Seollal is next to Chuseok (KR: 추석) one of the most important Korean traditional holidays. It is also typically a family holiday. It is a time where Koreans visit family and perform traditional rituals to honour their ancestors. While it is certainly a wonderful time, it can also be a very tiring time for many Koreans.
Of course, we at Morning Lands also celebrate Seollal (KR: 설날) and we are planning to have a big feast tomorrow to welcome the New Year. However, today I want to send out some well wishes to our Morning Lands Community. We want to thank for your constant support and we hope you will receive many blessings during this new year.
And, of course to you all:
새해 복 많이 받으세요.
What do you know about Seollal (KR: 설날)? Perhaps you celebrate it. If so, what do you to welcome the new year? Let us know.
