Today I’m going to tackle not one, not two, but three hanja. I do this because the list I created randomly has 2 hanja numerals following in quick succession. As I mentioned when introducing the hanja 九 [구], most Korean numerals have little lexical use outside their use as a number. In this post I’ll introduce the hanja for the number 8, 八 [팔].
Hanja #10: 八 – 여덟 팔
The hanja character 八 [팔] is the same as writing the number 8 in a text. While It ought to be obvious to you, I will still mention it , this character is the sino-Korean number 9, not the native Korean number 여덟. As with the hanja 九 [구], this hanja has little use in vocabulary except when used with words implying order or counting, at most it could be used in names. But, beyond that there is little use to the hanja numerals to build your vocabulary.
If you happen to know any other word you think has this hanja, let us know in the comments.
