One of the fun hanja is up. The hanja 小 [소] is the first hanja that describes an appearance and it is perhaps one of the characters most people might already know. It is a fun hanja as it appears in a lot of words so let us take a gander at this character.
Hanja #42: 小 – 작을 소
小 [소] is perhaps the first hanja that is used to describe appearances. This hanja represents ‘small’. Small in terms of size so another way is to say it represents ‘little’. Because of that meaning you will see this little character appear in a lot of words to express it is little. However, other words use it in a more figurative way. Perhaps it is simply there for words for very young people who, of course, are little as well.
If you happen to know any other word you think has this hanja, let us know in the comments.
