We are almost at the end of the 8th level of hanja. The next to the last hanja we’ll discuss is another easy one most people tend to recognize: 木 [목]. I think most of you already know the meaning of the hanja, but let’s give it a gander like all characters, shall we?
Hanja #49: 木 – 나무 목
木 [목] is a rather simple hanja that most of you will probably recognize. It is the character that represents ‘tree’. While this is character most people know, certainly Koreans, this is a character that will only pop up during conversation rarely. The only common word that uses this character is 목요일 [木曜日], Thursday. Most other words are used less often in daily conversation, though it can pop up now and then. Regardless it is an elementary hanja so it is a thing to know.
If you happen to know any other word you think has this hanja, let us know in the comments.
