The next Hanja is one of the more important characters you will encounter in level 8. It is the Hanja 國 [국]. This rather complex-looking character represents an important aspect of a country, so it does appear in a lot of words.
The Hanja 國 [국] is a rather complex-looking character that appears in plenty of basic and more intermediate vocabulary. The character represents the idea of ‘country’ or ‘nation’. One of the most important words you’ve learned early on, Korea utilizes this character: 韓國 (한국). In fact, a few other countries have this character in their name, like 영국 (England), 미국 (USA) and 태국 (Thailand).
However, the Hanja 國 [국] is used in many different words that all related to the concept ‘nation’ or ‘country’, so it can be quite handy to know this Hanja. It will certainly help you better understand some news articles on Korea for sure.
